A daily prayer from the New England Conference
Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
The Risen Christ, To you, Love is the threshold of your life, ministry, death, and resurrection, Love is the beginning and the end, Love is what calls us to serve, Love is the beating of your heart. You gently call us by our name and tenderly whisper: DO YOU LOVE ME? When we have forsaken you, When we feel we have nothing to offer you, When we have returned to our ordinary lives, When we see no signs of vitality or hope, DO YOU LOVE ME? Again … In our daily routines or during special events, In the midst of war and destitution or in times of hope and fruition, Throughout our joy and despair, In the fullness of our own righteousness and in our shamefulness of sin and guilt, You gently call our name and whisper. DO YOU LOVE ME? One more time … We are not ready to give the answer you are expecting, We do not dare to proclaim that we won’t fail you again, We know ourselves — our flaws, faults, weaknesses, and limits, We answer, “We wish we could love you as you love us.” FEED … SHEPHERD … TAKE CARE OF MY SHEEP Help us … Feel honored in receiving your invitation to serve you, Feel privileged to serve your people, as you sacrificed your own life for them, Remain faithful to the baptismal covenant that we once made with you, Love our neighbors as you would love them, Go, serve, and make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of this world. This is our communal prayer and bless this prayer through the name of our Lord and Savior. Amen. By Rev. Taesung Kang, Granite District Superintendent Inspired by John 21:1-19
