A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis
During these difficult days, members of the Many Waters District of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today’s prayer
“Take my life and let it be consecrated, Lord, to thee. Take my moments and my days; let them flow in ceaseless praise. Take my hands, and let them move at the impulse of thy love. Take my feet, and let them be swift and beautiful for thee.” from the hymn, “Take My Life, and Let It Be” by Frances R. Havergal Almighty and merciful God, you have called us to be your servants to those in need. And just now, we find them in any direction we turn. We have heard your call, and we know we have sometimes fallen short. We have given greater priority to holding onto our material possessions and our love of comfort than to giving you our moments, days, hands, feet, our lives. Forgive us. Renew our strength through renewed trust in you. Inspire each of us to live more faithfully and thus more fully. Help us to remember to lift every joy, need, and prayer to you. In the Spirit of Jesus who came not to be served, but to serve, make us your instruments for justice and peace everywhere. In the example of Jesus, help us open our hearts with love. In your grace that goes before us, O God, help us to reach out our hands and serve others. Take our lives, our moments, our days, our hands, our feet, and let them be…we humbly pray in Christ’s name. Amen.
