A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis
During these difficult days, Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar and the members of the Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today’s prayer
Lord, God, we are living in the middle of strange times. The world often sends messages that call to us, entreating us to act in one way or in another. In these dark times, it is not always easy to recognize if it is you calling to us, with your invitations to follow and serve you or if it is another's voice that calls out. Yet, Lord, it was you who formed us in our mother's womb. It is you Lord, who knows us inside and out. You formed us and grifted us to serve you and this world. It is only in answering your call that we are most at home with ourselves. Speak to us Lord. Call to us so that there is no doubt that it is you calling and there is no doubt as to what you are calling us to. We might long for a sign but we trust that our soul will recognize your voice when you call. We are fearfully and wonderfully made in your image and will only find true satisfaction when we answer your call. May our answer be swift and complete surrender. In the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen
Rev. Dr. Jacquelyn Brannen, Katahdin District Superintendent 1 Samuel 3:1-20, Psalm 139, John 1:43-51
