December 30, 2020 A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis
During these difficult days, members of the Many Waters District of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today’s prayer Jeremiah 31:7-14, Ephesians 1:3-14, John 1:(1-9), 10-18 Deathless God, our beginning and our end, we are coming toward a new year with weeping. God of life, help us come with words of praise stronger than complaint, with feet ready dance on the day of salvation, with mourning ready to be turned to joy, with hearts ready to be satisfied by the bounty you offer, with hands ready to share and share and share until all are satisfied. Blessed God, source of every spiritual blessing, we are coming toward a new year with longing. God of love, help us to set our hope on Christ, Your son, our purpose in living, to be holy and blameless in your sight, to receive your Beloved grace freely given us, to know ourselves as your children, to experience that deep mystery of redemption. Unseen God, giver of life and law, We are coming toward a new year with awe. God of beginnings, begin with us now, to speak our new days into being, to help us receive you, to fill us with the light of Christ, to make your love known in the darkness. AMEN Rev. Dr. Karen L. Munson, NEAC Superintendent for Many Waters UMC
