A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis
During these difficult days, members of the Many Waters District of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today’s prayer
Psalm 148 Holy, holy holy!!! We may not be angels, Lord, but today praise bursts from our very human hearts.
Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD from the heavens; praise God in the heights!
As the sun rises, we greet you with praise for this day’s gift, Emmanuel. When the moon rises, we will praise you for this day’s Gift, you are with us. Our hearts lift with the highest heavens and feel the widest expanse of your mercy. For all that you have commanded be created and for all that you have done to redeem the creation you love, even us, we call to all creation, “come, sing with us!"
Praise the LORD from the earth, you sea monsters and all deeps, fire and hail, snow and frost, stormy wind fulfilling his command! Mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars! Wild animals and all cattle, creeping things and flying birds! Kings of the earth and all peoples, princes and all rulers of the earth! Young men and women alike, old and young together!
On bended knee, we exalt you who today we remember as an infant, seen by some as unimportant, by some as a threat, by some as their dear child, and by those who heard your messengers, as the hope of heaven and earth.
Let them praise the name of the LORD, for God’s name alone is exalted, God’s glory is above earth and heaven.
Amen.
Rev. Dr. Karen L. Munson, NEAC District Superintendent for Many Waters District
