A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, the Seacoast District is sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

___________________________________________________________________ Today’s Prayer

Based on: Psalm 126 and 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-24 (3rd Sunday of Advent) Almighty and all protecting God, we come to you seeking Joy in this season of Advent. When all around us, we see sickness, separation and distress. Help us lift up our voices to you, to find reasons to give thanks to you in these trying times during this pandemic. Let us find more times in which we can rejoice together and less in uncovering the ills that we find ourselves in. Grant our hearts be filled with laughter and happiness, rather than the every-day sadness that grips our nation and world. May those who have sown tears in the tragedies of sickness and death eventually be able raise up shouts of love and joy. We ask that you will buoy up our spirits in this season of expectations. Guide us to hold fast to the good around us and turn away from the wrongs that are in this world. We trust in you and in you alone. You can restore life to beyond our understanding. You heal broken lives; you heal broken bones. Through your loving grace, we pray that these times of grief will end, and we can once again find joy. Grant us patience as we wait during these difficult times. We long to be Advent people. Prepare us for coming of our Lord’s birth. May we find the joy that the shepherds did, when the Good News was heralded to them by the angels. Amen.
