A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis
During these difficult days, the Seacoast District is sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
___________________________________________________________________ Today’s Prayer
Based on: Luke 1:46b-55 Holy Lord, as we embrace this time and prepare our hearts to welcome you once again, we cannot help but notice that our spirit continues to rejoice despite what is transpiring around us these days. For the expectation of waiting for your arrival reminds us of what is important and that many wonderful blessings take time to arrive. So, although we live in a world where instant gratification seems prevalent and the norm, we are praying that this Advent season you slow us down even more than Covid-19, and remind us of what is to come. For our soul’s desire is to magnify you just as Mary did, and in that spirit of joy we thank you for Mary who taught us of your quiet peacefulness, your humble spirit, and your unconditional love. Help us Gracious God during this season to trust in you, especially when emotions are intensified, and tensions are increasing. Encourage us to believe that the promises you have made, you will fulfill. And God of us all, hear our prayers, for we only wish to embrace the warmth of your love and the light that brings forth life amidst the darkness. God of life and love, lead us, guide us, transform us, and prepare us to be love and light to all in need in this world, and to show mercy in all that we do. For we pray all this prayer and so much more in your holy name. Amen. By: Pastor Kate Galop who serves Westport Point United Methodist Church, Providence, RI, Seacoast District
