A Daily Prayer During this COVID-19 Crisis

A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, members of the clergy class of 2021 are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today’s prayer

John 5:9-13

Gracious God,

We give you thanks for new days to live and new energy to share with our neighbors. With COVID-19 vaccine rollout, we glimpse the light at the end of the tunnel, and we are grateful. At the same time, we also see that we are in the same storm, but we are not all in the same boat.

Many people in economically underprivileged countries don't have the privilege of getting a vaccine we have enjoyed, and our leaders still think from the perspective of economic benefits. Just like some Jews in today's scripture didn't care about the man who had been cured and only concerned about 'laws,’ so many of us would like to keep laws that would guard our privileges.

God of mercy, Please, have mercy on us and open our eyes to see what's really important in your eye. As your Son, Jesus Christ, healed the paralyzed man, laying on the floor for 38 years, heal us and make our body and soul well. Restore our compassion and love toward others that we may share the burden of others and walk together through this COVID-19 time. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen. Juhee Lee, candidate for commissioning/membership as a provisional elder
