A Daily Devotion for Weds, November 4

Proverbs 20: 5,7

verse 5: The purposes of a man’s heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out.

We were created with hearts that seek God. This fact is central to my faith. Every fiber of my being has wanted to know God for as long as I can remember. I am not saying I have always been faithful in my seeking Him, but my purpose has always been to find Him, to see Him, and to know Him. I believe God created us all with this purpose. Sometimes I feel frustrated by how difficult this process can be, and I wonder why God hasn’t made it easier. But then I remember He made it as simple as sending Jesus, and as simple as asking me to say, “I believe”, and as simple as promising I will spend eternity with Him. I can always go back and start there.

Father God, you have called me to seek you and to follow you. I want to know you better. Give me wisdom, God, and I will try to do the right thing. I know I am yours. Amen

Proverbs 20: 5-7

5 The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters, but one who has insight draws them out.

As I become more understanding of the human heart, I realize how much I can learn from the people around us. In our Tuesday night meetings, I find I learn so very much just listening to everyone share their thoughts. Not all of us are talkative, but we are drawn out and we learn the wisdom that is under the surface of each person. There is something to learn from each person and every interaction. We just have to listen.

Dearest Lord, help me to listen to you and others around me to know you better. Help me to…

Proverbs 20:5 The person of understanding (being the deep waters...) sees the relationships between all the things that God has allowed a person (this would be me) to experience . the gifts that I possess and the opportunities that I have been given – and is able to draw out the purpose of God for my life. I do not need others to see my life that is not possible for me. That trusted person helps me figure out what I am to do with what God has given me. I need to get about the business that I was meant to do. God did not made a mistake when I was born, and He is prepared to use…

20201104 Wednesday, Daily Devotion - Proverbs 20:5-6 (NIV)

5 The purposes of a person’s heart are deep waters,

but one who has insight draws them out.

6 Many claim to have unfailing love,

but a faithful person who can find?

Wow! What a wonderful life that draws out deep waters that God planted in our hearts. I dream to be such a person who can draw/raise deep waters that God poured out in-depth of me. And also I dream and pray to be such a person who can help and guide others and draw the deep waters in them.

Lord, I want to be the person who keeps drawing out the deep and never-thirsty waters inside of me and others.…

Proverbs 20:7 - “The righteous walk in integrity - happy are the children who follow them!”

I have always enjoyed teaching, and the setting or audience does not seem to matter. I am as happy in front of a group of fourth graders as I am presenting to physicians and surgeons. Beyond conveying information, my hope is that I project an image of integrity that transcends mere information. Will the people I am addressing get a sense that I am a follower of Jesus?

Prayer - God of righteousness, instill in me a level of integrity that is pleasing to others, especially to young people to whom I aim to minister and guide on the path to faith. Amen
