A Daily Devotion for Wednesday, September 25

Genesis 1:29

Then God said, “ I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food.”

When God created the heavens and the earth and all the living things on the earth, food was clearly part of the plan. And we know, after all these thousands of years, that the most nutritional food for us is the natural food, closest to the earth. We have not been able to improve on the nutritional value of natural foods. This is truly amazing! God certainly did know what He was doing. When I have a choice, I will know what is the best food for me.

Lord God, your wisdom and grace amazes me. You give us so much more than we deserve, and you know what is best for us, even though we often think we know it all. I am truly thankful. Amen

After forming humankind on the sixth day of…

Genesis 1:29

The wonder of seeds and plants is so easily overlooked in an age when we can walk into a supermarket and have our pick of tens of thousands of individual fruits and vegetables. Gardening has instilled a great deal of fascination and humility in me, not to mention much, much more respect for those who grow food to feed communities, nations and the world. Farmers represent a direct link to Adam and the first humans who cultivated the seeds given to them by God to feed themselves and their families. The life of local farmers is not easy, and they deserve our unwavering support and prayers for their success.

Prayers - God of the harvest, bless and protect…
