A Daily Devotion for Wednesday, October 21

Colossians 1:15-23

John 1:12-14

John 1:12-13 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God.

These verses are to me a perfect description of what it means to be born again. For me, this hasn’t been a “one and done” process. I have lived my entire life as a believer. But there have certainly been times I have strayed away from God, giving Him little thought or attention. When I have come back to seeking God, I have felt the sense of a “rebirth” of my faith. My rebirth two years ago has been profound for me, and has changed me. I don’t intend to lose this relationship again.

Father God, you are forever forgiving. I am so thankful. You have put others in my life to lead me back to you, over and over. May my life and my heart and my actions reflect your love every day. Amen

Becoming a child of God requires faith in Jesus Christ.( John 1:12) To all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. In order to be children of God, We must receive Jesus by believing in Him.by recognizing that Jesus is the eternal Son of God who became man. Born of a virgin through the power of the Holy Spirit. Have the faith that Jesus is our Savior. God’s plan was to sacrifice His perfect Son on the cross to pay the punishment we deserve for our sin: death. Christ’s death frees those who receive Him from the penalty and power of sin. His resurrection freed us from sin and guilt. Jesus leads…

Colossians 1: 15-23, John 1: 12-14

Colossians 1: 23

If you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

I don’t think I have ever thought about Jesus as much as I do today. I got away from talking and thinking about Jesus for quite a while. In July of 2018 I attended a Church service and realized how much I had been missing. I was born again, as I like to say, and came to Christ in faith and belief in his…

John 1:14

The word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only son, who came from the father, full of grace and truth.

The Word before Jesus, the Old Testament, proclaimed the coming of Jesus by every prophet. Jesus brought that word to life and showed us how a human should live. By being born, God gave us proof of Himself rather than just being an idea. We can identify with Jesus in his loving and his suffering and it gives us the hope that we can live our loves more like him and attain the same everlasting life that he has.

Dear Jesus you gave us the…

20201021 Wednesday, Daily Devotion - John 1:14

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Jesus was the Word with God (John 1:1, Gen 1:1). Jesus (the Word) became flesh and decided to dwell among us (John 1:14) so that we can live with Him together. Those who live with Him are full of the glory of the Son, Jesus Christ because He came from the Father, full of grace and truth (John 1:14b).

As we empty our things inside us, we fill ourselves with the Word of God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy…

Colossians 15:20 - “and through him God was pleased to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, by making peace through the blood of his cross.“

Last Sunday Pastor Gil spoke of parental love, a desire to take on the pain of a child who is ill or hurting. Not only does God have the power to do this, but on a specific day, at a specific place, on a hill outside of Jerusalem He endured all the pain and suffering of the world in an act of supreme love. His death was only a prelude, however. Three days later, His Resurrection would change the world forever. We are reconciled to God through Christ and we…
