A Daily Devotion for Wednesday, Dec. 30

Psalm 96:1-7

verses 1-3: Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth.

Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.

I woke up this morning thinking about what was discussed in our group meeting last night. In particular the concept of things happening in God’s time and people being touched by the Holy Spirit in God’s time, not ours. I know this is true, but I don’t want that to be a reason for me to hold back. If I don’t talk about God, people will not fully know me or know how God leads my life. I know we should live our lives to reflect Jesus and His love for us. But that includes being bold in our worship and our relationships.

Holy Father, help me to say and do the right thing, to help others to find you. I know it all happens in your time, but I believe you can use me to lead others to you. I ask you to help me; show me, Lord. Amen

I love how peaceful the picture is with the horse grazing in a beautiful setting. Very calming.

Psalm 96: 1-7

2 Sing to the Lord, praise his name: proclaim his salvation day after day.

Praising God should be something I do every day. I offer God my day, everything I think or do or say. It is such a little thing to ask of us, to praise God, but sometimes a forgotten practice. Praise God because he has done such marvelous things for us. God the Father gave us his Son. I should thank and praise him every hour of the day for this wonderful gift.

Dearest Lord thank you for sending Jesus to us. What a tremendous gift you gave to us. The gift of salvation. How can I ever thank you enough? Amen.

Psalm 96:1-6

This psalm is how to praise God in different ways. We can sing about him, tell others about him, worship him, give our offerings to him and live a live meaningful to God and to ourselves. I am certainly more than overwhelmed by all that God has done. I know God is great so why do I hesitate telling others about him. I know that when my heart is full of appreciation for what he had done and is still doing in my life that this should really empower me to be the best witness For him. God has made it very clear as to why he has chosen to use me and you to spread his message…

Psalm 96:5 - “For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the Lord made the heavens.”

There are a lot of idols out there that are placed well above God in people’s lives. The earthly pleasures these idols bring seem to blot out the message of the Good News. Humankind seems more and more convinced that nothing one thinks, says or does has any moral significance unless perhaps it hurts someone else. If there is a God at all, He is just a benevolent spirit who just wants us to be happy. Meanwhile, the idols (drugs, alcohol, sex, money, power, influence, gaming, work, you name it), get all our attention and devotion. It is the Lord who made…
