A Daily Devotion for Wednesday, April 20

Romans 10:9

That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

This is the ultimate set of instructions for renewal. Each day is new; God will save us if we only believe, and confess the truth. We don’t need to remind God of his promises, but sometimes it helps to remind ourselves. I know I need this type of renewal, and God sees this in me.

Holy Lord, your Word is invaluable. Each day it redirects and renews us in our faith and our journey with you. I am so thankful, Amen

Romans 10:9 I have been going to church since I was three years old. I was never instructed that I had to declare out loud these words. I learned as an adult, that there are denominations that expect these words to be said. While this is my belief, and I do say these words in various Bible and church groups, I know that God knows my heart. Hopefully, my heart song, will offer me renewal and salvation. Prayer: gracious God, you know my heart better than anyone. You are my lord and savior. Amen

Romans 10: 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Each Easter brings to me a renewal of why God sent Jesus to us and why he died on the cross. With this renewal of spirit, I am given a fresh look at how much God loves us and sent his only son to us. If asked, I will tell anyone why I believe in God and Jesus Christ. The question I will always ask myself is, does what I say and do reflect this personal belief in Jesus, that He is both Savior and Lord.

Dearest Lord, give me the grace…

Romans 10:9 Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Again this verse reminds me of my favorite scripture do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. The powerful truth is that to be saved I must believe in my heart and confess with my mouth, and I do. Renewal is a continual process. Even though I am a believer, I am still going to sin, so it is important fo…

Dear Transformers:

This morning’s “Daily Dig” from Plough hit something we touched on last night and I hope you find it as encouraging as I did:

When All Seems Hopeless

Johann Christoph Blumhardt

Take note of this, for it is a certain truth: we do not pray in vain for those who are lost, even if they are our enemies. Yes, we do not pray in vain – even though everything seems to be hopeless. If we are truly concerned for their salvation and bring them before the Savior, he will bring them under his special care, so that – perhaps before we are even aware of it – miracles can happen, even among those whom we had already given…

Romans 10:9

Paul stresses to the Roman church that Jesus is Savior AND Lord. We too often rely on the former while neglecting the latter. Jesus as Lord of my life is the ultimate authority to which I must answer. With every act of sinful disobedience I reject His Lordship and am reduced to the level of those who murdered Him on Calvary. Spiritual renewal can only come when I lay aside my agenda and submit to Jesus as Lord of my life and not some nebulous lord of the world with no personal connection.

Prayer - Lord Jesus, hear my prayer of confession that I do not always place Your Lordship first and foremost in my life. I act…
