Psalm 22: 27-28

All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord,

and all the families of the nations will bow down before him,

for dominion belongs to the Lord

and he rules over the nations.

Our true master is God- not the government -not any government or any ruler. I don’t think this is a new concept to me. I believe I have known this all along. But what is a newer twist for me (from earlier in the week) is the admonition to respect and honor those in earthly authority. I think as a nation we are struggling with this. How can we come together and meet somewhere in the middle? God is not sitting on one side or the other. He is here for all of us.

Holy Lord, you are everywhere, on the left and on the right and in the middle, waiting for each individual to turn to you. Help me to be true to you, to live my life respecting others, in humility and kindness. Amen

Psalm 22:27-28

When I first read this, I thought how wonderful if this actually happens. Everyone a believer, everyone knowing the Lord and revering him. All of us—everyone. Then I decided that being the humans we are, we might mess that up too. After all, many Christian denominations do not all agree. Each has their own set of rules and beliefs and think they know best. I’m not so sure we can make verses 27-28 happen. Our Lord would have to work hard to make us one.

Prayer: Gracious God, Maybe you have the power to make this happen. We, your creation, need much help, even today. Amen

Psalm 22: 27-28

All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him for dominion belongs to the Lord, and he rules over the nations.

This is the ultimate purpose of God in the world, To see all the nations worshiping God, this is what we all want to happen. The reality is every follower of Jesus who knows the gospel, is committed for the spread of this gospel and the spread of God’s glory to the ends of the earth. In Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus says, ``Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the…

Psalm 22: 27-28

From time to time I encounter writing from those who look at the world’s difficulties and tensions of today as signs of the beginning of the end times. I tend to reject this largely because the world has always been a troubled place and our own country has seen and survived divisions so deep they led to civil war. More importantly, Scripture is clear that no human can know or predict such things. What we do know is the end of our stories have been written, both individually and that of all creation. Long before John’s Revelation in Patmos, the psalmist declared the Lord rules over the nations. The Lord has dominion and all will eventually bow…
