Ephesians 2:8-9

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.

We cannot single-handedly bring another to Christ. It is by God’s grace that we are even given the faith and the wisdom to follow Him. Yes, we have a choice, and all of mankind has that choice. And we can live out our lives with Christ and share any and all of our experience with others. But we can’t ultimately take that last step for another. We can only do our part and pray that the rest is God’s will.

Holy Lord, we all have people in our lives who so very much need to know you. May I be a part of that process. Amen

Ephesians 2:8-9

Although I believe God wants us to do good on this earth and to love and forgive, it is clear that the only pathway to heaven is by accepting Christ as our Lord and Savior. We are given the incredible gift of God‘s grace and salvation. We can profess this and we can lead by example, but it is up to “the horse that is led to water” whether to drink or not.

Dear God, help me to lead a life on this earth that is lead by Christ’s example, to do good, to profess my faith, to love and to forgive. Thank you for the gifts of your grace. Amen.

Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Salvation is a gift, it cannot be earned, paid for, or deserved. It comes from God ‘s amazing grace and we receive it through faith. We only have to simple trust and rely on God. As a believer in Jesus, salvation has been freely given to me. As a flawed human being I try to imagine the intensity of God’s perfect love for all of us.

Lord and savior, thank you for the gift of salvation. I know I have done nothing to…

Ephesians 2:8-9

In light of these words in Ephesians, John Wesley’s intense focus on grace makes all the sense in the world. It was prevenient grace that opened our hearts to faith and it is justifying grace that saves with sanctifying grace being the guide to becoming perfect as God is perfect when we are called to heaven. Our evangelistic activity, in whatever form it takes, is dependent not on our works, but on how our works make known God’s prevenient grace so that others can start on their own walk to eternal life. Taking a page from Roz’ book:

Grace, grace, God’s grace

Grace that will pardon and cleanse within.

Grace, grace, God’s grace

Grace that is greater than…
