A Daily Devotion for Tuesday, December 22

Deuteronomy 31:6,10-13,26-29

verse 6: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

I remember reading passages like this in the Old Testament when I was a kid and a young adult. It would make me want to ignore the OT because I “knew” this was not true. How could Moses say this? God clearly does not protect everyone from illness, injury, heartbreak, death. But what I didn’t understand was the truth of the rest of the statement. God never leaves us. He will never leave me, no matter what happens to me. And this time on earth, although it is all I know, is like an instant in eternity. God has promised us eternity with Him. And Jesus came to embody that love.

Holy Father, I am so very thankful to you for this life and the life to come. Amen

Becky, transforming

Deuteronomy 31: 6, 10-13, 26-29

6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them. For the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

This verse reinforces to me the love God has for me. An invitation to believe in and follow God, and if we do this, he will be with us always. Being strong and courageous, following his leadership will help us to have eternal life with him. So no matter what we are facing in our lives, God is always there to help us through these challenges.

Dearest Lord thank you so very much for loving me so much. You are always there for me, even…

Deuteronomy 31:6

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.

God challenged His people to be strong and very courageous, but He also reassured them that He would be with them always, to lead and to comfort, to support and help them, no matter where they went or what they did. This is the same God Who reassures us that His grace is sufficient for us in our present every day life. God has given us the holy Spirit, Who will lead, guide, support and help us just as He did with His people of Israel…

20201222 Tuesday, Daily Devotion - Deuteronomy 31:6, 10-13 & 26-29

I like the interviews and the last words of well respected faithful people because they need to say the truth and very important values in their lives. This is a reason I try to remember the last words of the great prophets and faithful servants of God during the last part of each year.

Moses’ last words were

  1. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)

  2. “Come to appear before the Lord your God at the place during the Festival of Tabernacles” (Deuteronomy 31:11)

  3. “Take this Book…

Deuteronomy 31:27 - “For I know well how rebellious and stubborn you are. If you already have been so rebellious toward the Lord while I am still alive among you, how much more after my death!”

Yesterday we looked at Joshua’s farewell address. Today it is his predecessor, Moses. At 120, the leader of the Israelites had certainly paid his dues, even to the point of not setting foot in the promised land. His words reflect his love for the people, assuring them the Lord would never forsake them, but also his experience, having watched them fail over and over again. I recently heard a sermon on the radio about the importance of dying well. Moses strikes the perfect balance…
