A Daily Devotion for Tuesday, April 4

Acts 20:24

However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace.

Paul's calling was indeed unique and changed his life completely. He literally gave over his life to Christ. I know we cannot all live out our time on earth this way. But we all have been called by Christ to follow Him. Living for Christ should look different than living for ourselves: shining light from the inside, and Christ-like in our treatment of others. This is a tall order.

Holy Lord, help me to think of you first, and then how I can best reflect your love to others. Amen

Ask 20:24

But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned to me by the Lord Jesus – the work of telling others the good news about the wonderful grace of God.

It is hard to compare our lives to Paul’s. Time (thousands of years), and culture separate our lives. But that doesn’t mean we can’t dedicate ourselves to doing the work of spreading the good news. We may not knock on doors, or start new churches, but every prayer shawl knit, every cookie baked, every story told, every hour volunteered, are our way of spreading the good news of Christ.

Prayer: gracious God, my hope is that people understand that the…

Acts 20:24

However I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me. The task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace .

We used this same scripture on 12/23/22 ( day of my hip replacement surgery)with reference to ministry. Paul’s most important goal of his life was to tell others about Jesus. I know God will always seek more men and women just like Paul who will focus on this task that God wants us all to accomplish. I know I am not capable of living a live like Paul, I do know at my age I am stil…

Acts 20:24 This verse reads very differently at age 66 than at age 36. I am currently in what I call “legacy mode.” A high priority is to indeed finish the race strongly and complete the task the Lord has given me. As long as I am blessed with the health to do so, I will press on in service to others, and through those acts, service to the Lord.

Prayer - Gracious God, I thank You for the gift of good health. May I be inspired and encouraged by the Holy Spirit to use that gift to strive to live out my faith in a more excellent way. It is far less important to be busy than it is t…
