John 14:1-2
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?”
Jesus comforts his disciples in these verses because he has told them he must leave. But he comforts me in a different way. He reassures me that he speaks the truth. And so he reassures me that the things he has said are true: ‘if that were not so, would I have told you…’ And these verses are more and more reassuring to me as I get older, for obvious reasons. But most of all, I love these verses because to me, Jesus is saying, “You can trust me, because I am one who speaks in truths.”
Holy Lord, Thank you for your Word, and your Word in the flesh, Jesus. I hang on to the truthfulness of Jesus, more than any other part of scripture. Amen

Ecclesiastes 3:1
For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven.
We need to learn and understand God's plan. There are cycles to our lives. There will be joy, but there will also be sorrow. Not only is it God's plan, but God's timing. We need to learn and accept and appreciate God's timing no matter how difficult that can be. No matter what, God loves us--PERIOD!
Prayer: Gracious God, to accept your plan and timing is often difficult but we learn as we grow that your wisdom is best. AMEN

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths,"
God created us, He loves us, He knows us better than we know ourselves . The fact that he is all-knowing gives him the ability to see what lies ahead and because of this, he knows what we need in order to fully be the person he created us to be. Because of this he also knows what needs to take place and which direction we need to go in order to receive the blessings he wants to give us. So again, I will ask God to…
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
This reminds me that everything good in my life is from God. While we change, he does not. His love and mercy is something we can always count on.
Dear God, thank you for your love, thank you for your mercy and thank you for all the blessings in my life and in the lives of the people I love and care about, but thank you mostly for the most important and wonderful blessing of all, your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
