Proverbs 11:2
When pride comes, then comes disgrace,
but with humility comes wisdom.
Being prideful leads to pushing forward with one’s own agenda, having no time or interest for others’ opinions or suggestions. In contrast, when we can be humble and admit that there is room for improvement, we allow for growth. I think of wisdom as growth—growth in knowledge, experiential growth, emotional growth- all leading to a more seasoned approach to life. God created us this way- we are able to learn! And God knows when we are living our best lives, humbly, and alongside Jesus.
Holy Lord, help me to remember today that I can learn from everyone around me. I do not always know the best approach or the perfect solution, and there are always others in my life from whom I can learn. And I learn from your Word each day. I am thankful. Amen

This verse teaches us that pride leads to disgrace, while humility leads to wisdom. I would find it very uncomfortable being prideful and thinking too highly of myself because I am uniquely aware of my own weaknesses and limitations, being humble is thinking of myself and being suitable . When we are proud, we are more likely to make mistakes and to be embarrassed. When we are humble, we are more likely to learn from our mistakes and to grow in wisdom. We can also avoid pride by being grateful for what we have and by acknowledging the good in others. We can…
Proverbs 11:2
I have always learned more from my mistakes than when all has gone smoothly. The corollary seems to be when humility is set aside for the overconfidence that comes from pride, the door is opened for those mistakes to take me down a peg or two. Even when that happens, if I open myself to humbly reflecting on what went wrong with an eye toward improvement and correction rather than looking to blame someone or something else for the problem, disgrace is replaced by wisdom.
Prayer - Merciful God, I ask forgiveness for times when pride has eclipsed humility, especially when that pride has harmed another or others. Guide me to approach all I do with an appropriate…
