A Daily Devotion for Thursday, September 10

2 Peter 1: 20-21

Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

These words hold so much truth, and it is a truth which grows clearer and sharper with time. How could all of scripture from Genesis to Revelation fit together like a beautiful tapestry if it all came from man’s imagination? We cannot understand everything, but God has made it clear He is the author of all we see and hear and experience. I am comfortable knowing some of the answers- it is God’s job to know all of them. God’s will is just that- it is His will. I will only know and understand what God leads me to know. I hope and pray for this: as I am transformed, and grow closer and closer to God, may He open my heart and my mind to more and more of His truth. May I live the life He planned for me, according to His will. Amen

20200910 Wed, Daily Devotion - 2 Peter 1:20-21

[2 Peter 1:20-21, NLT]

20 Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet's own understanding,

21 or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.

The Word of God was written by the people who were inspired and moved by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, the authority of the Bible is unapproachable by any other authorities, which is the top authority in the world because it is the Word of God. It was written via the hands of the people who were inspired and moved by the Holy Spirit beyond sinful nature and humanistic characteristics. This is…

2 Peter 1:20-21

As I/we continue to grow spiritually I/we are learning to do God’s will no matter how it feels or how difficult it is.  I/we work with the Holy Spirit continuously to be changed  to be like Jesus .We are learning to say what God says( not what we say) and live a life dedicated to God and his purpose.  God wants us to be mature spiritually and no longer be controlled by our own thoughts, emotions and desires. He want us to learn his word and direct our life accordingly. No prophecy or scripture should ever come about by the interpretation from the mouth of the prophets. God cooperated with the prophets in such a way that…

2 Peter 1: 20-21

During this political campaign season, there has been popping up on lawns a sign bearing what seems to be a secular humanist creed. It says in large, colorful letters, “We Believe,” and what follows is a list of virtue signaling moral platitudes with, of course, no reference whatsoever to God. As a follower of Jesus, an element of my belief system is that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. As has been pointed out by Becky, it is all but impossible to conclude otherwise considering Scripture as a whole. That belief impacts just about everything else I believe in faith, and makes humanist preening of those silly yard signs worth little more than the…
