1 Corinthians 2:14-16
The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. The person with the Spirit makes judgements about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, for, “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
Because we have the Holy Spirit living within us, “we have the mind of Christ.” These verses highlight for me the importance of maintaining and strengthening that connection. They compliment the instructions, “Pray without ceasing.” Discernment is a byproduct of growing closer to God. The more I pray, the more I will be able to see, hear and understand.
Oh, God, thank you for hearing my prayers. Thank you for allowing me to hear you when you are granting me wisdom. Amen

1 Corinthians 2:14-16
The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
The Holy Spirit is a Person. The Bible says that He is not something, He is Someone. He is God. There are three Persons in the Trinity–God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. The Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit is…

Reading todays devotional by Oswald Chambers I would like to share a few sentences that hit home for me. “The best thing to do, once you realize you are not spiritually real, is to ask God for the Holy Spirit, basing…
1 Corinthians 2:14-16
Paul’s lesson is straightforward but I still struggle with lapses into human judgements that do not reflect the mind of Christ. The Christian life is difficult to faithfully maintain and is not the instant transformation to a sinless saint that the secular world holds up as the impossible standard for those of us they find so foolish. This is why I require daily (sometimes minute by minute) refilling by the Holy Spirit. I am among the leakiest of buckets, and without the Spirit my life would be entirely different.
Prayer. Spirit of discernment, I depend on Your guidance with each decision I face. Forgive me when I ignore Your good counsel and substitute human judgment for the…
