1 Kings 18:21

Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the LORD is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.”

But the people said nothing.

Sometimes we are left with a decision which is difficult because both sides seem wrong, or both sides seem right. Elijah is asking the people to figure out whether they believe in the God of Elijah or the false god, Baal. I have no desire to follow a false God, but in saying that I must be careful. If I have a decision to make and I give in to a choice which I know is not in line with God’s will for me, I am in effect following something or someone other than God.

Holy Lord, help me to follow your lead, always, and in everything I do. When I have a decision to make, help me to see what is your good and perfect will. Amen

1 Kings 18:21

Believers do not very often find it difficult to declare God as our one and only God as directed in the First Commandment. However, all around us, we see the temptations of other “gods”. I see so much around us that I believe people put ahead of God, money, success, material things, popularity, etc. What else do we need but our God, his love, grace, and the salvation he offers us . I hope I am never tempted to stray. I am human and I am a sinner, but I desire to be part of His plan always.

Dear God, please help me to always stay on track and live the life you want for me through…

1 Kings 18:21

And Elijah came near to all the people and said, “How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him.” And the people did not answer him a word.

I have a married couple as friends and the husband always said, the one sure thing about Kerry  is her indecisiveness .This reminds me of myself. I do know  that doubt will never come from God.  God gives each one a certain amount of faith. So why  be caught BETWEEN  two possible answers. Doubt isn’t simply unbelief. It’s more of a question if we say I believe …..or I want to…

1 Kings 18:21

It couldn't be clearer for us. No fence sitting allowed. We believers need to seek God's guidance and use his words as we try to make good life decisions. But too often we rely on ourselves. That makes it too easy to make the wrong choice just because it makes us feel good.

Prayer: Gracious God, this is such a clear reminder to seek your guidance first and follow your word. AMEN

1 Kings 18:21

The prophet Elijah made the situation quite clear to the people yet they did nothing. Indecision can be worse than making no decision at all. In 1964, Ronald Reagan gave a now historic speech called “A Time for Choosing,” which has some vague echoes of Elijah’s exhortation to Israel. The truth is, every day is a time for choosing. All our thoughts, speech and actions must be filtered through the choice to follow Jesus. A commitment to do so, reinforced by diligently practiced spiritual disciplines lowers the risk of indecision and keeps us on the right path.

Prayer - Sovereign God, may I never find myself wavering between obedience or disobedience to Your precepts. I pray the…
