A Daily Devotion for Thursday, August 27

Ephesians 3:14-19


verses 17b-19: And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge- that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Christ’s love for me- it seems like a simple idea, easy to fathom. But it is not always easy. With my human brain I tend to measure my worth in worldly terms: what have I accomplished, what service have I provided, am I at all valuable to the world? But over and over in scripture I am reminded of God’s love for me. His love began before I was born. We are all included, no matter what our “worth” here on earth. His love is so huge it “surpasses knowledge”, but God gives us the power through communion with Him, to experience that love. This is the love I am after.

Father God, I am thankful beyond words, but I know I don’t always live that out. Thank you for loving me no matter what. Draw me closer to you. Amen

And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.


My journey on earth is to know how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. We can't master how huge God's love is. We just keep walking with God so that we learn, know, and feel His love every day from every moment with the people of God and God's creatures. His love is the most powerful one to change our hearts rather than anything else. One of the most important missions in our lives to know how deep, wide, long, and high His love is.
