Matthew 22:29
“Caesar’s,” they replied.
Then he said to them, “So give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.”
There are worldly laws we must follow. And there are a few, much more important laws which are God’s laws. In Matthew 6:24, we are reminded that we cannot serve two masters. I am struck this morning with admitting how worked up I have been lately with money issues. I have certainly spent more time worrying about money than I have spent praying to God. This is so fundamentally wrong- I am embarrassed. But God already knows my thoughts. I must do better.
Holy Lord, forgive me for my worldly preoccupations. Help me to remember to always turn to you. Amen

The religious leaders, were again trying to trap Jesus. Why he does not pay taxes. His reply is give to Ceasar what is due to him; which may be done without interfering with the honour of God,and not to jeopardy his glory. Matthew 22:29
I don’t like thinking of taxes and it’s easier for me to disengage because Becky handles our finances. I know this task brings with it stresses that can be very difficult and distracting, but at the same time I know (and have proven) that I do not have the financial discipline or adequate respect for Caesar to execute it efficiently. I must be better attuned to the pressure this places on Becky and more intentional in showing my appreciation for her efforts. It is she who has to deal with Caesar when she would much rather give to God.
Prayer - Merciful God, I pray for peace for Rebecca as she carries out the thankless task of managing…
