1John 4:1-6
verses 4-5: You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. They are from the world and therefore speak from the viewpoint of the world, and the world listens to them.
The tree in this picture is right outside the window of our home “office”. Tom and I share the room and each have a desk. This tree will forever remind me of this pandemic, the good and the bad. I have watched this beautiful tree go from Spring to Summer to Fall and now it is frozen in Winter. I have struggled with many things during this time, some of them personal and some professional. But God’s Spirit has been here with me, not just in this room, but in me. I have known the “right” thing to do in some iffy situations. If I have chosen wrongly, God has let me know by allowing my conscience to poke at me at all hours of the night. I thank God for His presence and guidance.
God of glory and might, you dwell in me, and I am eternally grateful. You keep my path straight in this crooked world. Amen

1 John 4: 1-6
4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
My joy today is that Jesus is in me. I believe that he is a part of everything I do or say every day. I read the Bible every day while doing the devotional segments and attempt to follow all that is written. I don’t know why the world has gotten to this point of upheaval, but I feel it may be from lack of belief in Jesus and what he died for. My only hope is that one day, and I hope it is soon, the worl…
1 John 4: 1-6
Some people believe everything they read or hear. Unfortunately many ideas printed or taught are not true. Christians have to have faith, but we should not be gullible. Be aware of false truths even if the person speaking saids it from God. We will know the lie or the truth by simply remembering if it is consistent with Jesus’ teaching. John knew what he was talking about, along with the others, they heard what he said, listened to what he taught.was with him. They actually saw him. They watched him. They saw all that he did. They lived with him for 3 years. They knew that Jesus was a real human being. God’s strength is greater…
1 John 4:1 - “ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; for many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
One of the tragedies of postmodernism is the distorted notion of “many truths.” The rejection of the existence of objective truth unmoors us from the stability that truth provides and becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Without the Way, the Truth and the Life we are, as the modern atheists insist, no more than accidents of nature in a random world made up of random events, meaningless organisms all destined for death and decay. As for me, I choose to test every spirit with God and God’s Word as the…
God does let us know when we need to be prodded. I can think of times when I was indecisive about something and if I was not listening to my "gut instinct" (God) things did not go well. We need to listen more and talk less.
20210118 Monday, Daily Devotion - 1 John 4:2 (NIV)
2 This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
The person who knows if people have the Spirit of God is the person who has the Spirit of God and acknowledges Jesus as Christ and the Son of God. The Spirit of God recognizes the Spirit of God. Although it might be hard to explain how the Spirit of God recognizes the Spirit of God, the same Spirit in us communicates with the Spirit in others. I hope and pray that I can communicate with more people in the Spirit.
Dear Spirit of God,…
