Matthew 5:9

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”

I can’t help but believe that God loves peace. Any time one steps in to prevent or to end a dispute, I believe God smiles down at them. Peacemakers are important, but they wouldn’t even be necessary if we all were actively following Jesus. Peacemakers don’t “stir the pot” or add bits of information or gossip to an already heated situation. They don’t spread rumors about conflicts. I think peacemakers see the positives in dropping the conflict and moving forward. They do not hold grudges. May I be a peacemaker, Lord, and always think of ways to resolve a conflict instead of joining in or adding fuel. Amen

I believe God is a God of peace and that peacemakers are truly blessed. The people that are effective peacemakers are ones to be emulated. As soon as I started reading this passage, I immediately thought of my dad’s sister Bessie. She was the greatest family peacemaker I have ever know. She could calm a situation with just her mere presence. I always looked up to her and admired her for these qualities. I never heard her say a bad word about anyone. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if everyone conducted themselves in this manner and sought to diffuse situations, minor and major, that might escalate into conflict.

Lord, help me to be a peacemaker, steer me from harsh words or…

Matthew 5:9

from the Message

You are blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That's when you discover who you really are, and your place in God's family.

World peace starts at home with you and I. That is how movements are spread. It starts at home, spreads to community, country, and the world. It is still a tall order, but one we can understand.

Prayer: Gracious God, Many things start small and grow. May world peace be that way. AMEN

Matthew 5:9

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

Jesus calls us to be makers and maintainers of peace. When we make and keep peace among us, and when we have developed the habit of staying at peace regardless of what happens , people will begin to realize that we belong to God, and we can become very effective witnesses for him………. Amen

Matthew 5:9

The gift of being a peacemaker is among the most precious God bestows. The irony is that, if we would only look inside of ourselves, we could find it. Perhaps it is missing among pieces of gifts we may feel we already have, such as compassion, humility and wisdom. Perhaps it is shrouded by the persistence of sins of pride, envy and greed. Honest prayer and Introspection can go a long way toward knitting together the gifts and scraping away the grunge, yielding the peacemaker inside each of us.

Prayer - Lord, please let there be peace on earth. And let it begin with me. Amen
