Ephesians 4:22-24
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
This passage describes transformation in Christ. This is what I long for, yet every day I fall short. But we are human beings, not meant to “be God” but to strive to “be like God.” I will never be perfect. But God, I believe, sees a small change in me and smiles. I am working on myself, with God’s guidance. Pastor Gil has helped me to find that guidance through encouraging reading of scripture. I never before so consistently heard God’s direction as I do now.
Holy Father, you are showing me the way. Help me to keep my eyes and my heart open to your guidance. Give me patience, Lord, to put into practice what I am learning. Amen

I know that it was impossible for me to get from wrong behavior to right behavior without first reading God’s word, and changing my ways to line up with God’s word and will. Ephesians 4:24 - “and to clothe yourselves with the new self, created according to the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.“
The saying back in the day was “clothes make the man.” While clearly an advertising ploy to sell suits, this adage has the gravitas of truth when applied to one’s faith. If we are clothed in Christ, people should be able to identify that just as surely as if we were wearing a tuxedo or elegant ball gown. It should be that obvious even to those who do not know Jesus. This is not because we are berating or condemning them, but because we are loving them.
Prayer - God of true righteousness and holiness, may I…
