Ephesians 4:22-24
New International Version
22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
These beautiful crocuses fit today’s verses. They are the perfect symbol of renewal. Coming up in the middle of swampy brown water and surrounded by dead leaves, they are growing clean and bright out of the dirt, just as God intended. They are not affected by “the world” into which they were born. They are not brown and mushy, like the earth and leaves around them, “just to fit in.” I need to remember always who and what God intended for me to be.
Holy Father, I welcome the opportunity for renewal through you, each morning and each moment. This is a gift I do not deserve. Amen.

The Bible tells us if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come. This promise refers to a fresh start with God, starti…
Ephesians 4:22–24 I am sure many pastors have use this verse at the start of a New Year’s sermon. I am sure it is also a verse that Christian counselors use with their clients. Actually, however, each of us should probably read it at the start of each day. It is a reminder that no matter how off-track we might have been yesterday, the spirit will offer renewal today. How blessed we are to have this reassurance. I probably should post it so I read it first thing each morning. Prayer: gracious God, May I begin each day renewed by your loving spirit. Amen

Renewal is a process. Change is something that needs to be taught. Knowing that God is at work in us is not enough. I need to take intentional steps to change. I will identify those areas in my life that need change and also examine how God is working in my life. Knowing that if I fail, I can come back to the forgiveness of Jesus.…
