A Daily Devotion for Friday, October 30

Romans 7:21-25

2Corinthians 4:16-18 Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed by the day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

I am so thankful to have had so many beautiful years of life so far. And, God willing, I will have a few more. But I know I am not yet all God wants me to be. There is a lot of growth still to come. God doesn’t put a time or age limit on when we are finished growing spiritually. If I am seeking Him, He will provide the increase. And then He will bring me home.

Lord above, help me to never stop walking toward you, looking and seeking and yearning for you. My heart is your home. Amen

I call this the battlefield of our mind.  I have  to say as my spiritual life matures, I recognize the  Holy Spirit working within on my behalf. We have all faced problems in different areas of our life. When this happens I depend on God to give me the strength and courage to resolve what ever the problem might be.  There are many times where this reminder does not work for me. In these times when my inner being wants to give up I am reminded that this life is not all there is. There is life after death. I will live…

Romans 7:24-25a - “Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!“

Paul captures the anguish all believers feel when we realize the virtual impossibility of living a sinless life. The world constantly conspires against that aim. Faith, however, points us to Jesus, our Lord, who forgives. If we admit responsibility for our sin, Jesus removes the guilt.

Prayer - “God of forgiveness, thanks be to You through Jesus Christ our Lord. Without faith, I wallow in a wretched body of death. It is in faith I strive to be more like Jesus and leave that body of death behind. Amen

Romans 7: 21-25, 2 Corinthians 4: 16-18

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

I can relate to this verse very personally. Looking in the mirror every day I see an old version of the person I use to be. However, that old person is better today than she was when younger. Reading the Bible and learning more and more about Jesus and the Trinity I am renewed. I am still a sinner but I don’t let the devil in as often. I am learning to fix my eyes on the eternal life that is promised and forget about the wrinkled face that looks back at…
