A Daily Devotion for Friday, Nov. 27

Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

Matthew 28: 19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Jesus made their commission clear to the disciples. And he promised to be with them always. He also came to Paul and recruited him for a lifetime of evangelism and teaching. Before, they were just regular guys. After, they were changed men. Am I changed, now that I have given over my life to God? Can anyone see I am different? I have always believed in God, and have been a Christian since my childhood. But it feels different now. What is actually different about me? Can people see God in me?

Holy Father, you can answer these questions for me. You give my life a purpose and a meaning. Help me, God, to see my path to you. Amen

Jesus’s promise was the Holy Spirit just before He was about to leave the disciples. The most important thing is the Word of Jesus and the second is the Holy Spirit. The one we have to follow next to Jesus is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not a feeling but a confidence emerged in me that I can confirm this came from the Holy Spirit not from my knowledge, experience, or research.…

Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” The power of the Holy Spirit involves courage, boldness, confidence, ability and authority. The disciples would need this Holy Spirit to fulfill the instructions from God. They were instructed to spread the gospel basically to the whole world. I believe in Jesus Christ and I have experienced the power of the Holy Spirit within me. Like the disciples God, has the same instructions for me. I know I could never run ahead of God and witness for him without the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately God’ …

Acts 1: 8, Matthew 28: 19-20

Acts 1: 8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

When I received my Confirmation, I don’t think I felt any different, like a light bulb went off in my brain and I was changed. I know I did not fully understand the meaning of what transpired. In the past 2 ½ years I have come to learn the meaning of receiving the Holy Spirit.

We were chosen to bear witness to Jesus. We have been empowered to help change the world one action, one gestor of good…
