Romans 14:17-19
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and receives human approval. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.
This last verse, or last sentence made me think today. If I choose always to act in a way which I believe encourages peace, there will still be some who are unhappy. The key is probably in the first verses, “righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.“ When I live with the Holy Spirit guiding my choices, I am doing the right thing.
On an important side note, I believe the Transformers have brought unity to Pastor Savoy’s charge. We have a personal connection now, and I feel an investment in how you are all faring in Goffstown. I think about you, I have been in your place of worship, and I have prayed with you. I have never had this sort of relationship with a sister church. ❤️
Father God, thank you for bringing us together as Transformers. We are all your children. We all know and love you, and now we know and love each other. Let us continue to build unity. Amen
Romans 14:17-19
Our world is full of political conflict, racism and injustice just to mention a few. Amid all of these conflicts, people rarely show respect and common courtesy to each other or those who are different from us. With the latest conflict between Russia and the Ukraine It feels like our world is more divided than ever. Through all of this — the pain, brokenness and division — God is still in charge, still at work. God has made a way for us to be at peace with others. It is to first be at peace with God. While I am talking about world wide unity I want to refocus on community unity.. If we live humbly with one…
Romans 14:19 So then, let’s aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up. In the readings this week, I have often seen the word harmony rather than unity. I can relate to that term. In music two different notes often do not sound right in a song when played alone. But put them together, blended, and the sound is quite pleasing to the ear. In seeking unity or harmony, you often need to listen closely to others and they to you and then, hopefully, the right cord for both can be found. All good outcomes take time and thought and a good “ear“ to listen to others. Prayer: gracious God, may my ears hear what others need before…

These verses seem to say to me that we should never look down on someone that does not believe as we do. If they are weak in their faith, we should show them love and mercy. We as believers should always live in harmony and unity to build others up. According to Paul, failure to live by faith is to sin.

Romans 14:17-19
It may come as a shock to avid pot-luck supper Methodists that the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking. I jest, but I think we can all agree it is the unity that this kind of fellowship can promote that builds strong communities of faith, even if they are small. As this plague appears to be easing its stranglehold on our social lives and the life of the church, I look forward to these shared times to restore and build up our unity.
Prayer - God of fellowship, help us all to live in the righteousness, peace and joy of the Holy Spirit. We look forward to the day, very soon, when we…
