Acts1:8
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
If we believe these words, we know we have been given all that we need to share the Gospel. Why do we hesitate? Why do we lack the confidence and courage to speak up about our faith? For me, there is always an element of fear- fear of saying the wrong thing or coming across in an unappealing, offputting way. But that is about my own self-esteem, and should not stand in my way. We have been assured that God is with us, always, and wants us to speak up. We have been called His witnesses.
Holy Lord, you have called me to be your witness. I ask for courage and for discernment. Be with me, I pray, as you have promised. Amen

Acts 1:8
Jesus gives parting words to his apostles, the directive is clear, but I think this is a directive for all believers as well. As we are filled with the Holy Spirit, we should witness as well.
Dear Lord, please fill me with the Holy Spirit and bless me with the courage to share your word and your gift of salvation. Amen.
Acts 1:8
I know I have the power of the Holy Spirit behind me, but I'm still afraid of a confrontation. What if I am challenged when I try to speak of God's love. I know about it, but I don't think I have enough biblical background to answer if challenged. Maybe I do but I hold back because I'm not sure.
Prayer: Gracious God, Help me believe I can make a difference by my words not just by my actions. AMEN

Acts 1:8
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
The new testament makes it clear that God's plan for spreading the gospel is that believers should be his witnesses; WE are unable to do this by our own power, the disciples were unable to as well, until Jesus told them he would give them the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit empowers us by understanding the gospel, providing us with wisdom and the courage to speak, give reassurance, as we draw people to Jesus, while confirming the truth of hi…
Acts1:8
Jesus’ promise in Acts is an extension of the Great Commission He gave at the end of Matthew’s gospel. The engine that drives our witness for Christ is the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Back in the sixties, Jan and Dean sang about “The Little Old Lady from Pasadena.” She was an unassuming, gentle-appearing soul, but behind the wheel of her brand new, shiny red, super-stock Dodge, she dominated the road. Such is the power we can tap into when we lean on the Holy Spirit to be witnesses for Jesus wherever we are and wherever we go.
Prayer - Holy Spirit, let me feel Your power flowing through me in such a way that I cannot help but…
