Psalm 63:1
You, God, are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
where there is no water.
David was literally in the desert when he wrote this. But I can resonate with the longing he felt. It wasn’t just water he needed. Knowing God was still with him would provide him with the sustenance he needed. There certainly are times when I know turning to God is just exactly what I need to do. Nothing else will help. Like air and water, I need God.
Holy Lord, when I turn to you, it does feel like refreshing rain falling- I am relieved and reassured-and my thirst fades away. I am so grateful for your presence, and for the ability to turn to you. Amen

Psalm 63:1
While we are not hiding from our enemies in the desert alone like David was, we often feel that way when everything seems to be going wrong all around us. Like David, we should remember we are not really alone and that knowledge can be of comfort. He will be there to help us through our ordeal.
Prayer: Gracious God, May I never forget how near you always are to me. AMEM

Psalm 63:1
. O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
This verse emphasizes a deep, spiritual need to describe David's unyielding desire for God.,the same as the physical thirst of a person in a desert. David expresses his longing for God as this same type of thirst. Thirst is an insatiable desire. You can't put off thirst, and you can't ignore thirst because the whole body depends on it to function. David’s desperate need for a friend he could trust is an important reminder for me every day. I need to seek…
Psalm 63:1
In these days our land does indeed seem to be dry and parched. We talk past one another, failing or refusing to listen. Some shriek in outrage at those who see things differently, calling them evil and remaining oblivious to the fact there are different ways to see the same issue. Where there is no water, let us be the cup bearers of God’s living water, to ease the thirst for compassion, peace and justice in our world.
Prayer - God in heaven, allow me to be an instrument of Your peace, bringing Your living water to a dry and parched world that is thirsting for goodness and grace. Amen
