Our Beliefs

The Contoocook United Methodist Church is a welcoming, caring faith community, united in Christ and grounded in a personal experience of God’s love. As a body, empowered by the Holy Spirit, we keep open minds, open hearts, and open doors, honoring diversity by being accessible to ALL members of God’s great Kingdom, believing in the sacred worth of all persons.

We grow spiritually through prayer and small group Bible studies, and through our worship services which feature scripture-based sermons, prayers of the people, and a blend of traditional and contemporary music, dance and worship style. Prayer and worship are the foundation of all our experiences and works of mercy are taught and upheld. A vibrant Christian education program enables children, youth, and adults to learn and grow with Christ through a variety of meaningful spiritual experiences across all generations.

Mission work is a major emphasis of our church. We minister to local needs and participate in state, national, and international missions. We recognize stewardship as an on-going process fulfilling our vows to give of our prayers, presence, gifts, and service-witnessing to all that we have received from God. Evangelism and community outreach programs create opportunities for service, support, and fellowship while promoting the growth of our church by encouraging all persons to become disciples of Jesus Christ.
